| "White Lilies," 40" x 60" acrylic on canvas Now I'm getting back to the Arts at the Airport installation piece. I'm resuming work on three abstract canvases that will accent the four calla lilies. |

Yesterday I delivered my Middle Tennessee Medical Center commission to the framers. It was a challenging painting to complete because, without my knowledge, the brand of white paint I regularly use was reformulated to reduce the white pigment (a cost saver for the manufacturer but not good for the artist). It took me a while to figure out the problem -- initially I thought it was the canvas or primer that wasn't right. After getting more than halfway into the painting, an artist friend told me that her favorite brand of paint was unexpectedly reformulated to lower the quality and it had really affected her work. So I ran out to buy a different brand of white paint, and I immediately started getting better results.
